Rome has always been deeply embedded in Bvlgari’s DNA. Its architecture, colour and appetite for spectacle recur throughout the maison’s work, yet few designs carry the city quite as neatly as Divas’ Dream. The collection began in 2013, when Jewellery Creative Director Lucia Silvestri drew upon a fan-shaped mosaic discovered at the Baths of Caracalla, the monumental public complex inaugurated in AD 216. Reduced from ancient stonework to a graceful curve of gold, the motif gave Roman history a distinctly modern life. Its name reached beyond the conventional idea of a screen siren.

Bvlgari conceived the diva as a woman whose magnetism came as much from character as from glamour, while the design recalled the maison’s long relationship with celebrated women, including Elizabeth Taylor, whose affection for Bvlgari became entwined with the house’s own mythology. Early interpretations paired the motif with diamond pavé, mother-of-pearl and onyx before the collection expanded into fine jewellery, high jewellery, and watches. Malachite, turquoise, carnelian and other richly coloured stones followed, arranged with the graphic certainty of mosaic tesserae. The fan was repeated, elongated, layered and opened into increasingly elaborate compositions, proving that a recognisable signature need not remain fixed in place.

The latest creations continue that progression, introducing rose gold, mother-of-pearl and forms that echo the ginkgo leaf, alongside turquoise, chrysoprase, tanzanite, rubellite, malachite, amethyst and diamonds. Across necklaces, rings, bracelets, earrings, sautoirs and timepieces, Divas’ Dream retains the intelligence of its first idea: a fragment of Rome, translated into jewellery with enough clarity to be immediately understood and enough possibility to keep changing.
