Reinstate the Sunday family lunch with these three exceptional deals

Like most things involving family, Sunday lunch is a simple enough proposition, but in reality, another beast entirely. In theory, you pick a place, name a time, and show up. In practice, it can quickly become a small-scale logistics operation involving conflicting schedules, endless dietary requirements, the many demands of children, and at least one person who gets the day/time/location wrong.

Which is where the Savor Food Festival comes in. Across three of the festival’s most loved venues, the final day of the week has been given over to Sunday lunch, making it simpler than ever to come together. Here, you’ll find generous set menus made for groups, drinks galore (an essential, where family is involved) and, crucially, someone else taking on hosting responsibility.

Bivacco

At Bivacco, Raw & Roast with Cloudy Bay is a waterfront feast spanning seafood, antipasti, pizzas, salads, pasta, roast meats and a fairly serious dessert selection. It’s $85 per person, with children aged 12 and under dining for half price. If the occasion calls for it, there’s also a $150 Seafood Tower loaded with all manner of delicious seafood. It runs every Sunday from now until the 11th of October, with bookings from 11am and the final sitting at 2.30pm.

Non Solo Pizza

Over in Parnell, Non Solo Pizza’s Nonna’s Sunday Table takes a more traditional Italian route. For $65 per person, groups of four or more begin with an antipasto tower before moving on to rigatoni alla vodka or pizza, followed by lamb shoulder or porchetta and sides. It’s available for both lunch and dinner.

Azabu

Then there’s Azabu’s Nikkei Share Table, also $65 per person for a minimum of four. Expect sashimi, nigiri, tuna tostadas and ceviche, followed by dishes including ginger miso chicken and crispy pork belly ssam. On Sundays, it’s available for lunch and dinner at Mission Bay and dinner only at Ponsonby.

If regular family gatherings have fallen by the wayside in the business of life, take this as your cue to get together, break some bread, and send out the week in style.
