If there’s one thing we know about Aucklander’s appetites, it’s that when we find something indulgent, we can’t get enough. Enter Cheese on Toast, which opened its latest destination in Takapuna this week. This joint with a cult following has been serving delicious toasties since taking the City by storm at market stalls six years ago, making a case for sumptuous sandwiches all summer long.
After the insane success of its Three Kings outpost, earlier this year Cheese on Toast opened a Birkenhead flagship, and now, a second home on the Shore, just in time for the holiday season. Slinging the same epic toasties and coffees we all know and love, the Takapuna food truck is making it easier than ever to get a taste of cheesy, bread-y deliciousness.
Paving the way for a delicious summer ahead at Takapuna, the toast maestros are serving their signature toasties (including owner Steve Kennedy’s favourite — the creamed corn with added bacon) alongside eightthirty coffee, ensuring beach days are more than catered for.
Kicking off this week, you can find the purpose-built Cheese On Toast food truck streetside by the iconic Hurstmere Road roundabout. While there are no plans to take the show on the road anytime soon, there’s a faint promise of new destinations in the future — something we’re, quite honestly, happy to hold out for. Until then, you’ll find us devouring these toasties beachside — and honestly, it just doesn’t get better than this.
Monday — Friday, 8am until 2pm.
