The Harrigans are back, as MobLand returns for another season of dysfunction and drama. Led by the swaggering Conrad (Pierce Brosnan) and his magnificently calculating wife Maeve (Helen Mirren), the criminal dynasty spent MobLand’s debut season waging a particularly bloody war for control of London. Keeping them alive, out of prison, and occasionally in the same room, was Harry Da Souza (Tom Hardy), a lethal fixer whose patience proved almost as impressive as his capacity for violence.
Having survived the Stevensons, the Harrigans now face an altogether more dangerous prospect: one another. Conrad’s grip on the family is slipping; Kevin (Paddy Considine) has designs on his father’s throne, and Seraphina (Mandeep Dhillon) appears ready to forge alliances of her own. With rival organisations moving into the vacuum left by the first season’s carnage, Harry must somehow contain a family that seems determined to dismantle its own empire from within.
Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Jasmine Jobson, Janet McTeer and Toby Jones are among the returning cast, while Johnny Flynn and Ophelia Lovibond are set to join the series. Their arrival adds another layer of intrigue to an already crowded contest for power, particularly when almost everyone surrounding the Harrigans has reason to want something from them.
Season two looks set to build on the tension (and brutality) of the first, while pushing the Harrigans even closer to collapse. With rivals closing in and a vicious struggle for control unfolding from within, the Harrigans may prove their own most dangerous enemy.
The ten-episode second season premieres on Prime Video on Friday, 18th September, with new episodes arriving weekly.
