Last week's annual Milan Salone Fair, once again continued to show the evolution of design across all facets. With impressive art installations, to the introduction of future furniture and the update of design classics. The Salone del Mobile remains the most important event on the global design calendar. A few of our highlights from the week follow.⁠

1. Toshiya Hayashi and Hokuto Ando, founders of the Japanese design studio @weplus.jp created an installation from floating colourful fabric. The site-specific structure was set within the courtyard of Palazzo Litta in Milan, for @fondazioneermannocasoli, and received an award for its drama and beauty.⁠
⁠
2. @cassinaofficial and Fondation Le Corbusier joined forces to present a captivating large-scale installation titled ‘On the Rocks.’ Paying homage to the great modernist designer the installation explores Le Corbusier’s boxy furniture pieces, which have been reimagined with custom leatherwork by Matthieu Blazy and Bottega Veneta.⁠

3. The Narinari Chair by Tiziano Guardini and Luigi Ciuffreda for @bebitalia took inspiration from the Sea Eagle, an aquatic bird in flight. The stunning organic nature of this chair is sure to see it become a future classic. B&B Italia is available locally from @matisse_nz⁠.⁠

4. The Big George Chair by Cristián Mohaded for @moooi has been designed to emulate the happiness that comes from a warm embrace from a close friend. Available locally from @eccnewzealand⁠

5. Designed in 1967 by Cini Boeri. The Boborelax chaise was reimagined for the 2024 Salone in new fabrics. Available locally from @studioitalia⁠

6. New Zealand born designer @sabine_marcelis created an installation titled 'A Glimpse into Alula’s Natural and Cultural Landscape'. The exhibition paid tribute to the ancient Saudia Arabian oasis' natural and cultural landscape⁠.⁠

10. Curated by @ysl creative director Anthony Vaccarello, an exhibition in honour of Italian architect and designer Gio Ponti showcased a custom tableware collection originally conceived by the designer in 1953.
