If there were an eatery that truly summed up what it means to dine during the Kiwi summer, it would be Luke’s Kitchen. For more than 15 years, Luke Reilly’s eatery, which started out as a mere trailer, has become a cornerstone of casual small-town cooking. A must-visit spot and pilgrimage of sorts for anyone holidaying around Kuaotunu or passing through this eastern tip of the Coromandel peninsula. Stop off for a bowl of green lip mussels or a woodfired pizza topped with anything from smoked kahawai to chorizo and pepperoni.
