Bluffies are back with a bang at the Princes Wharf Oyster Festival

Tiny forks at the ready — Bluff season is back and kicking off with a medley of mollusc-centric events at the Princes Wharf Oyster FestivalMarch 1st officially marks the start of the Bluff oyster season, sparking excitement from seasoned shuckers to high-calibre connoisseurs and inexperienced diners alike. Princes Wharf simultaneously becomes a hive of activity, offering master classes, live music, and drink and dining specials set to entice Aucklanders. With so much going on, you would be forgiven for getting flustered. Not to worry, we’ve rounded up the best events to make navigating the Bluffy fest as simple as possible.  

The First Haul: All You Can Eat
Imagine the smugness knowing that you’re one of the first in the country to indulge in the new season bounty, then the exhilaration knowing you can have as many as you like. Euro‘s all-you-can-eat extravaganza offers limitless Bluffies, served au naturel alongside platters of kai moana.
Friday 2nd March, 12pm-3pm, $195pp, Euro.

Great Bluff Lunch
Revel in the luxury of a delectable five-course oyster-heavy meal selection, complete with Crayfish, whitebait and other delicious seafood accompaniments. If you’re not already sold, there’s free-flowing champagne too.
Thursday 15th March, 12pm-3pm, $250pp, Euro 

The Oyster & Music Festival
There’s no better oyster than a free oyster, and over at The Culpeper on Saturday 24th March, the first 200 dozen are exactly that. Late to the party? Don’t fret, there will also be a bevy of entertainment — from DJs Phoebe Falconer and Kate Elliot laying down some beats to oyster shucking competitions to get involved with.

Bluff Meat Beer
Whats not to love about the delicious intertwining of chilled beer and porcelain oysters? The creative geniuses behind Panhead Beer are serving up a storm; three brimming courses paired with a selection of their quality beverages — from the malty pilsners to the crisp and bold pale ales.
Thursday 14th March, 6pm on, $65 pp, The Culpeper.

Euro Calls Your Bluff
This ongoing promotion allows you to order a dozen oysters — freshly shucked served au naturel with lemon — for $29.95 between the hours of 12pm-3pm, Sunday through Wednesday. Bookings are essential, limited to one dozen per person, and subject to availability. Go forth and gorge, we say.

Whisky and Oyster Master Class
A food and drink masterclass is education we can get on board with. Let yourself be guided through a whiskey tasting with a professional mixologist whilst talented chef and oyster farmer Gareth Stewart shows you the shucking ropes. Drinking on the job is not only allowed but absolutely encouraged..
