This is the excuse you needed to hire a chopper and head out of town for lunch

“Taking the chopper” anywhere is not something we say lightly but trusted local firm Heletranz is known to serve up special offers that we simply cannot go past. Capitalising on our love for quality craft beer and our love for the ‘scenic route’, the airborne specialists have devised an all-inclusive flight to Matakana’s Sawmill Brewery, where a brewery tour, craft beer tasting and shared platters await.

Having been in operation for more than 30 years, Heletranz will place you in the hands of an experienced pilot who will transport you up the East Coast, before turning inland at Omaha and coming in to land in the brewery’s very own backyard. From there, you will have ample time to enjoy the cosy and rustic eatery, peruse the beautifully made old-style-new beers (without sugar, preservatives or colour) to see how they are made, and enjoy some of the top-notch food. Sawmill Brewery is one of the area’s most called upon attractions for good reason; owners Mike Sutherland and Kirsty McKay are known to embark on every one of their projects with utmost integrity and it shows in their popular brand of hospitality.

Once satiated, guests will re-board their chopper and embark on a picturesque flight over the Rodney district and North Auckland before arriving at where it all started only two hours earlier. Whether for locals or visitors, this impressive chopper trip might just be the ultimate lunch experience, at once showcasing our beautiful East Coast beaches and our penchant for craft beer.

Flight costs $450 per person, based on a group of 6. To find out more click here.
