The countdown is on for New Zealand’s most hotly anticipated wine and spirits festival

It can be argued that there is no better way to pass the time than to kick back with a glass of wine in hand. In fact, it is regularly argued — by us. Our penchant for a soul-warming glass of red or a crisp white, a fruity rosé or even a flute of champagne or two, is no secret, and so it should come as no surprise that we are eagerly awaiting the arrival of New Zealand’s finest wine festival. This year more so than ever, thanks to a serious shake-up to tradition. The Craft’d Wine + Spirits Festival, previously known as the New Zealand Boutique Wine Festival, is set to return this July boasting not just a new name, but a new location and a glorious array of new taste experiences, too.

For one day only, on Sunday, 21st July, GridAKL will play host to more than 40 small producers as they share their lip-smacking wines and, for the very first time, their groundbreaking spirits. Festival-goers can expect to be taken on a titillating journey of independent New Zealand wineries, from those in Central Otago to those in Northland and everywhere in between, all without having to step foot out of Wynyard Quarter. What’s more, the festival’s first foray into spirits will see a tipple that interests any and all, whether that be a taste of Burnt Hill vodka or a smooth drop of EightPM whisky. Not partial to beverages of the alcoholic kind? Not to worry, Seedlip will be catering to those staying dry this July with an array of tasteful, non-alcoholic mixes from East Imperial, too.

Not content with serving up some of the finest wines and spirits this country has to offer, Craft’d will also be hosting an exciting medley of masterclasses and vertical tastings, ensuring that the one-day extravaganza truly will be an experience to remember. And if that wasn’t enough, to celebrate the return of New Zealand’s most beloved wine festival, we’re giving away two VIP passes and a masterclass of choice to one lucky Denizen. For those interested, more information and entry to the competition can be found here.

*This competition has now closed. Congratulations Ella Francis*
