Located south of Beacon Isle in Plettenberg Bay, South Africa, the Beachyhead residential project by Stefan Antoni Olmesdahl Truen Architects is pure seaside hedonism. Its site slopes down to the beach lending it uninterrupted views over the Indian Ocean, with Robberg to the southeast and the Outeniqua Mountains in the distance towards the north. The house was conceived as a simple box, floating over the dunes, capturing and framing the view. The outer shell of the box is finished in a rough textured concrete, contrasting with the smooth reveal and soffit that tapers to create a delicate frame. Fair to say, we’d be happy to call this abode our very own home away from home.
