Seldom does one meet art whose designs are quite so cheerful.
It’s not often you meet an artist whose objective it is to instil optimism. Jason Woodside, however, is one such anomaly. With an infectious happiness to be found in his colourful, textile-like works comprising vivid colours and contrasting layers of simple, geometric patterns, the American artist’s trademark aesthetic can be found on various urban fabrics including buildings, containers and corporate offices.
Living and working in New York City, Woodside’s recent collaborations and commissions include Adidas, Saatchi & Saatchi, Jeffery Dietch and Colette while his large scale, exterior pieces grace walls in New York, Paris, Los Angeles, Sydney and Auckland. Here for a good time, not a long time (Woodside’s in the country for two weeks with his range of dynamic originals on canvas, prints and works on paper), Woodside’s reputation precedes him, making this a show that’s well worth your attention.
Opening tonight, Thursday, 23rd June, from 5.30pm – 8pm, ‘Sway’ will be on show till 30th June.
