Make a splash this summer in the best swimwear of the season

If you haven’t been for that first swim of the season, we’re betting you won’t be able to hold out much longer. The weather is warmer, the daylight hours are now stretching out over the whole afternoon and the water is looking increasingly inviting. So, it’s high time you treated yourself to some new swimwear in preparation.

For women, the trends this season seem to be a return to minimal bikinis (in both style and amount of fabric used), sculptural one-pieces and bohemian accessories. Although light, delicate floral patterns also seem to be experiencing a moment in the sun.

For men, it’s all about the graphic trunks with bold patterns and eye-catching colours. And before you ask — no, budgie smugglers are not making a comeback.

Here, we’ve rounded up our favourite swim pieces from this season’s new line up. From sleek two-pieces to loud swim shorts, these are the styles you’ll want to wear this summer.

Clockwise from top left: Bather orange ripple shorts and Canadian French toile shorts from Workshop, Franks swim shorts from Superette and Bather blue-black striped swim shorts from Workshop.
Left to right: Nylon swim shorts with logo stripe from Gucci, Bather tropical palms swim shorts from Workshop, Polyester swim shorts from Ermenegildo Zegna
