Prada Flagship Store

Spanning its modish empire across the continents, we're only too happy to hand our city over to this Italian fashion house.

Thus far only catered to by the curated Prada collection available at DFS Galleria, devotees of the Italian luxury fashion house can now rejoice; the end is nigh for pilgrimages far afield to worship at the alter of the elegant, covetable creations of Miuccia Prada thanks to the arrival of New Zealand’s first full-fledged Prada boutique. Frankly, we’re surprised it’s taken this long considering the Prada family, especially Miuccia’s husband, Patrizio Bertelli’s affinity to our City of Sails; a relationship born from racing us in the America’s Cup. Claiming its rightful place amongst the CBD’s fashion cognoscenti on Queen Street, the much-anticipated fashion gateway has just started seeing to the needs of both the fashion elite and sartorially conscious in the city.

Upon setting foot in the treasure trove that is Prada’s inaugural New Zealand home, fitted out in the brand’s iconic timeless style, disciples of the fashion brand will be entranced by the monochromatic marble checkerboard-inspired floors before turning their gaze to the corrugated mint green walls, posing a perfect backdrop for the brand’s beloved soft, Saffiano leather totes in classic shapes in showstopping shades – their metallic accents sparkling in the spotlight. Venturing further into the store, gentlemen’s attire is housed in an equally moody yet masculine space, fitted with the timber equivalent of the classic pinstripe, Zebrano wood. Ascending the mirrored staircase will see one greeted by the classic cream carpet, emblematic of Prada stores all over the globe, culminating in a light and bright space where Prada fantasies can come to life.

With two esteemed levels primed and ready to showcase the house’s desirable offerings, from ready-to-wear ensembles for both gentlemen and ladies to lauded, lust-worthy accessories and fine footwear, we can barely contain our excitement that soon, strutting down the street to pay our respects to Italy’s fashion visionary will be a reality as Prada puts down it’s fashionable roots in our humble city.
