Go forth and prepare to get pampered at Auckland's first social spa.
We’re certainly not the first to make use of the term, but ‘social spa’ is a fitting label when referring to Auckland’s latest beauty mecca, Spring Spa. Located in the seaside suburb of St Heliers, Spring is a response to the trend towards a more social, group experience, where beauty-goers can go to be primped and pampered, all while investing in some quality catch up time with friends. A two-in-one match made in heaven, if you like.
Much like its sister spa in Queenstown, the St Heliers outpost boasts a light and airy interior courtesy of Derek Lockwood of Saatchi & Saatchi Design, with polished concrete floors, natural wood elements and clever pops of bright colour. A major point of difference is the open plan layout, and while there are private rooms available for less social treatments such as waxing and facials, the highlight for us are the treatment pods. Designed for groups of friends who want to chat while getting manicures, pedicures or even massage, the pods come complete with complimentary built-in iPads and iPods, enabling guests to connect with the outside world while cocooned inside.
Alongside the extensive menu of staple beauty spa treatments, there’s also a curated selection of cult beauty products if you wish to purchase a few treats for at-home maintenance. Relaxation, beautification and a social date all in one? We’re sold.
