The Chippy is raising the bar for classic Kiwi takeaways in Riverhead

Although 'a little bit flash', The Chippy retains that quintessential fish and chip gratification.

With Riverhead cropping up as an unlikely destination on our foodie radar as of late, residents of the pseudo-countryside suburb will be relieved to know that they finally have access to a notable destination for delicious takeaways, The Chippy. Housed in the newly anointed hub that is ‘Riverhead Central’, owners Ange and Dan Housley are also responsible for the wholesome Harvest cafe next door and the forthcoming Forester eatery.

Helming the culinary goings-on is ex-Hipgroup chef Campbell White who has carved out a number of classic orders, taken to the next level. Pulled brisket beef burgers are beefed up (‘scuse the pun) with watercress mayo, gruyere cheese, cos lettuce and tom sauce; salt and pepper squid comes with a harissa-laced dip; and the crumbed market fish burger is enhanced with house slaw, cucumber pickle and tartare sauce, made from scratch.

Although rendered ‘a little bit flash’ thanks to cute branding by Design Dairy and decor by Ctrl Space, you can rest assured that The Chippy retains that quintessential fish and chip gratification. For more information, visit their Facebook page here.
