bluebell’s cakery hillsborough

A becoming makeover has transformed this kitchen into a whimsy new cafe.

Many are the cake lovers out there already aware of the mastery at work at Bluebells Cakery. Having first started up four years ago, Hillsborough was where it all began for business owner and baker Karla Goodwin whose incredible cakes and edible delights have rendered her a go-to for discerning customers wishing to mark a festive occasion.

Graduating from her Hillsborough premises to a larger kitchen now located in Eden Terrace, Goodwin finally had the chance to renovate the original space, transforming it from a commercial kitchen into a gorgeous cafe where the locals can now stop by and get their fix along with a freshly brewed coffee. Having only opened its doors again on Monday, the strictly pastel colour palette of the newly minted shop goes perfectly with the goods being sold within. There’s the expected smorgasbord of banana salted caramel cupcakes, dainty orange and almond loaves, exquisite looking homemade afghans and delectable scones while a cabinet of salads and sandwiches provide savoury satisfaction.

While a current license means the new store is operating on a takeaway basis, there’s no reason not to install yourself in the main window’s bar, if not the cutesy tables that line the shop, in order to take a appreciative moment to devour the incredible goods. Goodness knows the steady stream of morning punters have already staked their claim at this new and improved address, however, if you manage to wrangle a visit to this far-out borough, we suggest getting there earlier rather than later at the risk of missing out on some seriously delightful baking.
