It’s hard to go past the soul satisfying comfort of Delicious’s handmade pasta dishes. Arguably the best pasta in town, this Grey Lynn restaurant is best visited early (as they don’t take bookings) and on an empty and carb-friendly stomach. After not having visited in quite some time, we headed back to this pasta institution to sample the latest winter offering – pappardelle with braised shanks and a tomato and rosemary sauce.
The braised lamb shank pappardelle is one of Delicious’ winter staples, with slight variations of the dish offered each year. This is the quintessential hearty pasta dish that our bodies crave during the winter months. The braised lamb is stripped from the bone and served with a fresh, yet hearty tomato and rosemary sauce. The flavour is rich and wintery without being overbearing, balanced by just the right hint of citrus power thanks to a touch of lemon.
The flat wide pappardelle provides the ideal surface in which to grip the sauce, ensuring none of your prized lamb meat slips away at the hands of the pasta. You will be left twirling your forks for more.
