Breakfast with a view is on the menu at this Newmarket cafe.
The thing that we really like about Billy Cafe, is that it’s a place that has been made by a group of mates. From the architecture to the design, the menu to the paperwork, the young team behind the set up are all friends (albeit remarkably talented friends) who are passionate about what they do — and it shows.
Tucked in on the ground floor of an Auckland office building, enjoying uninterrupted views over the Domain and the Museum, the new cafe is a relaxed spot for a bite or brew. Though Billy’s full menu of heaving bowls of buckwheat noodles; pork belly with grilled pineapple, watermelon and mint; and kimchi nachos is set to hit in the coming weeks, there’s more than enough to satisfy at the Pan-Asian eatery in the meantime. Eggs any style on kumara sourdough or Midnight Baker bread can be paired with extras like avo, rosti, bacon, seasonal greens or salmon for a hearty feed, or the cabinet packed with croissants, loaded salads and substantial sandwiches (we’re already eyeing up the intriguing salmon and avo tartare sarnie for our next visit) will surely delight.
With Supreme coffee and dainty cakes made by in-house bakers to finish as well as a selection of tasty smoothies and sodas too, the parkside place is dishing up options to suit the surrounding office workers and weekend brunchers alike. A relaxed stop-in with a view, we only wish that our friends had thought of it first.
