comedy in the kitchen

Hotel DeBrett hosts a night of fine-dining accompanied by two world-class comedians.

Our entertainment needs tend to shift somewhat when the cool winter months set in. Retreating indoors, we prefer to indulge in things that don’t involve exposing ourselves to the winter elements. One downtown establishment who is catering to these needs is Hotel DeBrett. On Thursday the 12th of July, Hotel Debrett’s in-house restaurant Kitchen, will be hosting a night of comedy and fine dining. The perfect way to while away an evening enjoying a delicious menu by chef Mark Sycamore including wild rabbit and pork terrine, crisp skinned hapuka, finished off with a tasting plate of valrhona chocolate, while two of the country’s famously funny men entertain you with their comedic gags.

Providing the night’s hilarity are comedians Ben Hurley and Brendhan Lovegrove. Somewhat of a New Zealand stand-up comedy success story, Ben Hurley moved to London to work the comedy circuit as both host and headliner after winning the Billy T award, as well as supporting the likes of Andy Parsons and Ed Byrne on their UK tours. Similarly Lovegrove, also a Billy T award winner, is known for his razor-sharp wit which is as terrifying as it is brilliant, having been a regular on the New Zealand standup t.v show ‘Pulp Comedy’ as well as a constant fixture at the New Zealand International Comedy festival.

The evening kicks off with a warm-up cocktail in the house bar followed by a four-course seated dinner at 7pm with the stand-up comedy hilarity starting at 8.30pm. The perfect opportunity to see some world-class comedy while indulging in delicious cuisine.

Tickets are $115 per person and can be booked by contacting [email protected].
