Wunderkammer’s Ponsonby road showroom hosts a closing down sale like no other.
Those who are familiar with Wunderkammer will know that they have long been purveyors of all things weird and wonderful. The Wunderkammer showroom (a stone’s throw from their Ponsonby Road store) is home to all sorts of curiosities, from brightly feathered taxidermy birds housed under glass domes, to medical paraphernalia, bottled reptiles and large glass display cabinets.
Turning their attention towards new projects, Wunderkammer have decided to close their second showroom space and as such will be holding a one-off sale this weekend which will include many of their much admired curiosities. Collections such as these take years to develop and Wunderkammer’s collection is truly extensive. Everything in the showroom is for sale, including a bear skin rug (head intact), church pews, a billiard table and a large collection of taxidermy animals. Items will be available for viewing only from midday on Thursday, with the sale itself beginning on Friday from 10.30am running through until Sunday afternoon.
This is a rare opportunity to pick up pieces that have up until now, been part of a carefully curated private collection. If you would like a little (or a lot) of Wunderkammer in your life, we suggest you stop by the showroom this weekend.
